This reproduction print of an original watercolour painting is inspired by the rare wildlife & unique ecosystems found at the Denniston plateau & Deep Creek area of Te Tai o Poutini, the west coast of Aotearoa.

Considered an area of international significance, with ancient bonsai-like dwarf trees & oversized invertebrates, new speices continue to be discovered, found knowhere else on earth.

The plateau is home to endangered & rare speices, including the Roroa (great spotted kiwi), giant Powelliphanta snail, Avatar moth, giant west coast tree wētā, west coast green gecko, Kōura (freshwater crayfish), pink pine, eyebright flowers, sun orchids & extremly rare mosses & lichens.

Many of these speices are unique to the plateau or flourish because of its harh conditions, altitude, lack of preditors & isolation.
